avatar zahi7786 Many of us have been counting the days remaining up to the holy month of Ramadan . Five days, four, three, two and the next thing you know here it is. For a believer the name of this month “Ramadan” gives the thought of joy, rewards and a feeling of Allah’s mercy. Truly, this is a season that should be awaited for. Anticipations and emotions for this month are not sufficient. This holy month requires action and activity. It is about altering our timetables and schedules, it demands us to train ourselves to attain Taqwa (fear of Allah or devotion to Him) which in turn, is the element to carry us successfully through the ongoing journey towards the hereafter (akhirah). avatar samuraiclinton She should be in jail! I think that if you bought a Chevrolet Volt, this argument would have been bypassed. Gas stations are overrated and a burden on your funding anyway.

avatar veejay Just a note: In California, you pump your own gas, BUT service stations are required to pump gas for disabled persons with placards at their request, as long as there's more than one employee working. That goes a long way to resolving the disability problem. I will also add that if you've ever seen what a static spark can do when someone's pumping their gas (and it seems like almost no one takes the to precaution to discharge their static, which is merely to touch something metal) the full service laws make more sense.

avatar cherigirl29 Unfortunately,...NO, you can't pump your own gas here in NJ..After living in PA fro the late 1990's - 2003 and moving back to NJ, well I just felt like I was special or something..because I didn't have to get out of my car and pump my own damn gas! LOL It's a dumb law though. If you want to pump gas yourself, I think you should be allowed too! If not, well that why we pay the gas stations the big bucks..

avatar daisyduck I beg your pardon bhskittykatt, I don't know about your source. Oregon's law, enacted in the 50s, is about safety and concerns about accidents, with a happy side-effect for motorists with a disability. How would you feel if you were a disabled driver and couldn't find a service station where someone could help you re-fuel? And who cares anyway, it doesn't affect gas prices, Oregon's prices are typically on par with the national average, sometimes going above or below depending on TAXES. Now there's something to gripe about!

avatar bhskittykatt Not sure about NJ, but in Oregon the law was made to create jobs. The gas station operators can get in big trouble if someone pumps their own gas, so they enforce the rule vigorously. Don't be hard on the gas stations; they're just protecting their own asses.

avatar mugglehead It's against the law for environmental reasons. NJ has a progressive environmental law stance in many areas. It is also illegal to pump your gas in Oregon.

avatar superm0nkey my friend put the gas thing away by himself once at a wawa and the gas attendant man saw it. i dont think he really cared. some people like that are just stupid and need a life because they worry too much about others. they should not be allowed to talk.

avatar snuch Insurance. Gas stations in NJ don't have to pay for it. That's why gas is cheaper then other states. The gas station can be fined if a non-employee/customer pumps his own gas. I guess since they don't have insurance and if you were to get hurt pumping gas they would be liable for it and you could sue the pants off them. Hope this clears things up. Have a good one!

avatar astrotam I was born in New Jersey, and, yes...the rumors are true. It's against the law in to pump your own gas in New Jersey. Don't ask me why - that's the way it is. You'd think lawmakers would have better things to do...
